iLMO

Location: Trieste, ITALY
Program: ITS Fashion @work by ILLY Award
Project Team: Wimonwan Wichaikhamjorn and Ping-Chieh Hsieh

iLMO is an interactive apron design for barista. We interviewed some baristas enabled to design a futuristic interactive apron to assist their work and to improve their skills to counter with the automation technology.

“Barista need to be concentrate on making coffee, my ears need to listen to the sound of the machine, my eyes need to control the thickness of the powder and the time. My nose needs to smell the aroma of the coffee, every step matters.”

“My five senses need to be very concentrate on every movement I make.” said the barista. The ADXL335 3-Axis Accelerometer Module sensor on the wrist can pick up the position of the hands gesture, and change the color of the wearable, to hint the customers let them concentrate while making coffee professionally.

“When I’m happy, my coffee will be very tasty. Usually the first coffee I made is the best one, customers like to talk to barista while working, most of them have some extra request, it will definitely affect my mood and the accuracy of the taste. Sometimes I feel like they don’t really respect my professionals.” said Mr. Chang, Barista

“I should be remind when I’m in a stressed mood to be able to make a good coffee.” Their emotional feelings affect the quality and the taste of the coffee. These irresistible factors could be lessened with the design of an interactive apron that shows their working mode through colors and reminds them of their own emotional feelings to produce the best coffee.

We are very honored to participate in an international competition show case, to see our wearable on the catwalk. 201908, in Trieste, Italy, with many talented designers, we shared our unforgettable memories.
